CAAA - Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 - A piece of U.S. legislation relating to the reduction of smog and atmospheric pollution.

 

CAC - Citizen Advisory Committee - One of the three committees of the BMCMPO which advises the Policy Committee and is made up of local citizens interested in transportation issues.

 

CAFÉ - Corporate Average Fuel Economy - The sales weighted average fuel economy, expressed in miles per gallon (mpg), of a manufacturer's fleet of passenger cars or light trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 8,500 lbs. or less, manufactured for sale in the United States, for any given model year.

 

CAFO - Confined Animal Feeding Operation - Agricultural facilities that house and feed a large number of animals in a confined area for 45 days or more during any 12-month period.

 

CAGIT - County Adjusted Gross Income Tax - CAGIT is the county adjusted gross income tax. The county council has the power to adopt CAGIT. A large part of CAGIT revenue must be devoted to property tax relief, but some can be used for added spending. All local units share in CAGIT revenue, including the county, townships, cities and towns, library districts and other special districts. School corporations get some funds from this tax, but only for property tax relief.

 

Calculation of Customs Duty:Calculation of Customs duty depends on the determination of assessable value in case of items for which the duty is levied ad valorem. The assessable value is often the transaction value or the value assessed in accordance with Brussels definition. India is an active member of the World Customs Organisation and has adopted various international customs conventions and procedures, including the Harmonised Classification System and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) based Valuation System.

 

CAMPO - Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization - CAMPO is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Columbus, Indiana urbanized area.

 

CAP - Capacity - The maximum number of vehicles that can pass over a given section of a lane or roadway in one direction during a given period under prevailing roadway and traffic conditions.

 

CAP - Cost Allocation Plan - Represents a restriction on the use of Section 9 funds for operating purposes. Funds apportioned under Section 9, which exceed the applicable cap, may only be used for planning and capital assistance purposes.

 

CARB - California Air Resource Board - Clean Air Agency of the state of California. Established originally as the Air Resources Board in 1967. It is known for setting stringent standards for air quality.

 

CATS - Community Access Television Service - the local cable access channels run by the Monroe County Public Library.

 

CBD - Central Business District - An area of intense commercial development in the center of the city, usually describing a downtown area.

 

CCF - Federal Drug Testing Custody and Control Form - Form used to document every urine collection required under the Department of Transportation (DOT) testing program.

 

CDBG - Community Development Block Grant - This program is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs.

 

CDC - Center for Disease Control - An agency of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

 

CDC - Community Development Corporation - Not-for-profit organizations incorporated to provide programs, offer services and engage in other activities that promote and support a community.

 

CDL - Commercial Driver's License - A license issued by the State or other jurisdiction, in accordance with the standards contained in 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 383, to an individual which authorizes the individual to operate a class of commercial motor vehicle.

 

CEDIT - County Economic Development Income Tax - CEDIT also known as EDIT is the county economic development income tax. Either the county council or the COIT council can adopt CEDIT. Revenue goes only to the county, cities and towns, and must be used for economic development projects or public capital projects (like government office buildings or jails). Counties can adopt CEDIT along with CAGIT or COIT, or by itself.

 

CEDS - Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy - The CEDS analyzes the region's strengths and weaknesses, discusses the natural resources, infrastructure (water, sewer, highways, railways, etc.), the economy, and major industries (agriculture, manufacturing, services, etc.).

 

CESAR - Center for Substance Abuse Research - Mission is to inform policymakers, practitioners, and the general public about substance abuse, its nature and extent, its prevention and treatment, and its relation to other problems.

 

CFO - Confined Feeding Operation - Agricultural facilities that house and feed a large number of animals in a confined area for 45 days or more during any 12-month period.

 

CFR - Code of Federal Regulations - A set of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register (FR) by the Executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. The Code is divided into 50 titles, which represent broad areas subject to Federal regulation.

 

CICS - Central Indiana Commuter Services - A government/business/community partnership designed to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion by promoting the use of alternative transportation; and a resource center for employers seeking better commuting options for their employees; and A service that helps employees find affordable and convenient transportation to work.

 

CIF - Capital Improvement Funds - All cities and towns may establish funds to provide monies for the acquisition of land, or right-of-way to be used for streets, roads, etc. The use of these funds in the retirement of general obligation bonds.
