Trophies, challenge cups, prizes received from foreign nations exempts to pay IGST under GST

 

IGST exemption on bringing prizes, trophies, challenge cups under Customs Notification No.146/94 dt.13.07.1994.

146/94-Customs, dated 13.07.1994 is valid when introduction of GST in India on July 01, 2017 for exemption of IGST on imports.

 

Customs Notification No.146/94 dt.13.07.1994 details exemption to:  (a) Challenge Cups and Trophies awarded to an Indian team in connection with its participation in a tournament outside India and brought by it into India for being kept with an Official Sports Association,    (b) Medals and trophies awarded to members of Indian teams for their participation in international tournaments or competitions outside India,  (c)  Prizes won by any member of an Indian Team if the team has participated in any international tournament or competition in relation to any sport or game, with the approval of the GoI in the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports,  (d) Trophy when imported into India by the National Sports   Federation   recognized   by   the   Central             Government or any Sports being awarded to international tournament and World Cup event to be held in India.

 

According to GST council, IGST is exempted on movement of goods described under Customs Notification No.146/94 dt.13.07.1994.
