Difference between CST and Central Excise Tax

What is Central Excise Tax and CST? How does CST differ from Central Excise Tax?

CST means Central Sales Tax which is levied when sale of goods from one state to another state. CST is imposed when the goods are transferred or at the time of generating invoice whichever is earlier. For example, if sale of goods is moved from Mumbai to Bangalore, CST is charged. Central Excise Tax is levied up on manufacture of excisable goods in India. So Central Excise Tax has to be paid at the time of removal of manufactured products.
